The Short Path Distillation Head FC34 (spd-2 fc34) has been upgraded with our new fraction collector technology. This head runs specifically for smaller setups (2L & 5L). Equipped with #34 bore, #29 discharge arm and #24 key port. All tapers are traditional. When Summit Research initially released the first fraction collector technology we knew it would be a hit. Chromatography Column 5x48 (inches) with coarse/fine mixed frit. Heavy wall thickness of 3mm. Comes with Rodaviss connection and 45/50 Chroma Cap (GL14 feed/vacuum port). The drain has a PTFE stopcock to GL18. All GLs are included. Chroma Cap has elongated recessed port with diffuser. This directs fluid spray against walls to gently fill the column and protect media from movement. All of our chromatography columns now have option to add an Ultra Sensitive Fraction Finder! In addition to lab stands, it is recommended that you secure the lab stands to a wall or sturdy foundation while also using sandbags. This column will surpass 80+ lbs of weight holding full fluid. Please make sure you are offsetting the weight of your fluids. Summit requires this chromatography column to be supported by 3 chain clamps and a top mounted cork clamp. Summit recommends applying a thin rubber strip (the length of the chains contact) under the chain clamps (not included) to maximize grip. This column may slip though clamps if not properly bottom supported. The Separatory Funnel 4 Liter comes with a Sep Funnel Cap 45 that has improved recessed port for increased velocity when self mixing. The application, with vacuum, will launch the washing solution into the loaded solution and properly mix them without ever having to remove the funnel from the stand. Reflux condensers are used in “conversion” processes to cool the vapor molecules emitted from heated oils to change their gaseous state back into liquid by means of a chilled dual coil. This unit is recommended for 12L and smaller boiling flasks. How it works: The condenser is attached to the boiling flask joint and is secured in a vertical position. Chiller fluid is circulated through the coil to cause the vapors to condense as they rise up through the condenser coils thus preventing them from escaping. This gives you the option to reflux different fluids in your boiling flask for extended periods of time before you run the SPD, this is a must have in the lab for conversions. Summit Research 4 part 'EZ-Gum' Degumming Enzyme is to be added between 1/2g-1g : 1kg organic raw extract. This will initiate gum removal of phospholipids, phosphatides and metabolic absorption through enzymatic reactions. This blend of USA engineered powder enzyme of phospho A-C is for hydrolyzing phopholipids in solution with an added bonus of metabolizer for highest efficiency coagulation and group drop out of gumming compounds found prior to distillation. This powder can be added to distilled water first, or added directly to the raw extract resin that has been pre filtered prior to degumming. Pre-processed extract is to be held at 50c, do not exceed 62-65c as it will denature the blend of enzymes. When degumming has reached maximum efficiency begin a solvent/distilled water wash and drop out the gum layers and any remaining components that travel to the water layer.
