Summit Research custom made 45 to 24 high friction terpene head is the ultimate steam distillation condenser. This head is excellent for low vacuum/inert gas cfm condensing from the initial pathway. A first phase head that removes the bulk of the energy prior, to a more efficient condenser, like a graham unit. This prevents spitting of a second condenser and allows the turbulence to convert to a steady stream into second condenser. GL14 adapters (2) and keck clip included. Chromatography Column 5x48 (inches) with coarse/fine mixed frit. Heavy wall thickness of 3mm. Comes with Rodaviss connection and 45/50 Chroma Cap (GL14 feed/vacuum port). The drain has a PTFE stopcock to GL18. All GLs are included. Chroma Cap has elongated recessed port with diffuser. This directs fluid spray against walls to gently fill the column and protect media from movement. All of our chromatography columns now have option to add an Ultra Sensitive Fraction Finder! In addition to lab stands, it is recommended that you secure the lab stands to a wall or sturdy foundation while also using sandbags. This column will surpass 80+ lbs of weight holding full fluid. Please make sure you are offsetting the weight of your fluids. Summit requires this chromatography column to be supported by 3 chain clamps and a top mounted cork clamp. Reflux condensers are used in “conversion” processes to cool the vapor molecules emitted from heated oils to change their gaseous state back into liquid by means of a chilled dual coil. This unit is recommended for 12L and smaller boiling flasks. How it works: The condenser is attached to the boiling flask joint and is secured in a vertical position. Chiller fluid is circulated through the coil to cause the vapors to condense as they rise up through the condenser coils thus preventing them from escaping. Reflux condensers are used in “conversion” processes to cool the vapor molecules emitted from heated oils to change their gaseous state back into liquid by means of a chilled triple coil. This unit is recommended for 22L and larger boiling flasks. How it works: The condenser is attached to the boiling flask joint and is secured in a vertical position. Chiller fluid is circulated through the coil to cause the vapors to condense as they rise up through the condenser coils thus preventing them from escaping. This gives you the option to reflux different fluids in your boiling flask for extended periods of time before you run the SPD, this is a must have in the lab for conversions. Short Path Distillation Head HB2 100 comes equipped with 34/45 key port, 34/45 discharge port and a 100mm bore that secures to a boiling flask with o-ring and clamp. The Short Path Distillation Head HB2 100, or previously SPD-4 MPD (modified path distillation), was created for one of our testers Breaking Dabs aka Heisenberg. With his unique skills he has helped us tune the HB series heads to evolve and provide solutions for our users. HB2 is designed to be ultra high speed with precision refinement. This head was bench marked by Heisenberg on a dual e2m30 array achieving 6 liters per hour without any effort at all. This head can be setup for very low temperatures, high clarity, and high speeds. The new SPD-8 Series Heads (FC55, 60mm, 100mm, 150mm) bring a fraction collecting core combined with condenser coil. If you want absolute temperature control in a head, look no further. With these types of heads, if you dip the coil temp down it will act as a violent collection of molecules dragged to the coil like a magnet. That coil would inherently distribute those lower temps right on the surface of the fraction collector dish and that would display a whole new set of efficiency within the head. All Short Path Distillation 8 Heads have a 45/50 thermoport and a 34/45 discharge arm. This 2 liter head comes with boiling flask! Can be upgraded to 5 liter flask, please call us. The condenser in this 60mm head absorbs as much heat as possible and removes BTU energy from the vapor prior to entering the condenser arm. This allows the vacuum jacketed head to operate like it’s supposed to. The coil in the head doesn’t disturb molecular flow dynamics as it’s duty is to absorb heat before the heat affects the sides of the walls of the fraction collector as well as allows those ambient vacuum void temps to be more stable. When you get blow by in a head it means it’s just working overtime because the arm sends back fluids to the heater chiller and it can’t maintain the BTU heat removal. So if you can maintain exact temps you can bounce unwanted fractions right out of the condenser arm without over shooting flow rates. This maintains a drier vacuum in the condenser arm.
