First of its kind, innovation and performance meet the future of distillation. GEN 6 BERTHA series head is a unique and fascinating technology brought to you first by Summit. GEN 6 is common for compounds that degrade less through distillation. This technology will be a leading standard of the industry. SPD-4 MPD Bertha has a 150mm bore.
The Summit research SPD-4 MPD (modified path distillation) BIG BERTHA is an extremely high vapor fractionation column head. The first section starts in the flask to retain as much heat in the column as possible. This entire column and entry into flask is isolated from the outside air and the flange fittings. The first chamber is a rough fractionation chamber with a lower rejection section that prevents any condensate from moving upwards. The center section is a secondary refinement section and will further refine the vapors. The third section is the upper fraction collector. The first dual stage fractionation column to ever be invented or used in distillation glassware, pilot or small scale. The SPD-4 MPD Bertha 150 can achieve excessive liter per hour but tends to sit at 4-6 liters per hour (8 liters per hour with upgraded chilling and vacuum accessories) first pass and ready for crystallization. This unique hardware has a removable long key, short key well and a well stopper to fit the large bore Bertha. Vigs are not needed for this technology due to the industry first “no-vig” approach which utilizes a baffled section that extends down below the head base.
Requirement to use these heads would be a sogevac + dual e2m30 -or- sogevac + e80 -or- sogevac + e80 + diffusion array. This particular setup benefits from a custom diffusion array and an Apollo Vacuum Controller with the inert gas sweeping feature. Effectively increasing the stock speed and lowering the temperatures further.
SPD-4 MPD Bertha 150 has #34 discharge and #45 inlet port and comes with:
