Hochstrom Filter ™
The Hochstrom High Flow Filter is the fastest unit on the market. It’s unique design allows it to operate under half vacuum pressure for full flow. Our peers & customers have reported the high flow surface area to be equivalent to a 18-24″ table-top unit. These units have a huge basin, but small holes, really preventing it from being efficient for it’s size. A table top or small buchner filtration unit will have flow issues due to the solution warming up and redissolving past the filtration medium. You also get the fluid rushing around the filter media as well as a large surface area for liquids to warm up. We have achieved maximum efficiency in a much shorter time for filtration. HB series heads are inspired by our patented fraction collector technology paired with a larger flanged bore. Short Path Distillation Head HB1 100 comes equipped with 34/45 discharge port and a 100mm bore that secures to a boiling flask with o-ring and clamp. The Short Path Distillation Head HB1 100, or previously SPD-4 MPD (modified path distillation), was created for one of our testers Breaking Dabs aka Heisenberg. With his unique skills he has helped us tune the HB series heads to evolve and provide solutions for our users. HB1 is designed to be ultra selective to evacuate all previous fractions before the main body without letting the main body through. With some temp, main body can come out extremely fast and this head can be used as a first pass head. It is very effective in removing heads fractions while retaining main body components. The Short Path Distillation Head Bertha 100, since development in 2018, has become one of the leading standards in distillation head types in the industry. 2023 has brought the Bertha 100 to its final perfect form with 6 generations of evolution. This head comes equipped with 45/50 thermoport, 34/45 discharge port and a 100mm bore that secures to a boiling flask with o-ring and clamp. The Short Path Distillation Head Bertha 100 (previously SPD-4 MPD Big Bertha) is an extremely high vapor fractionation column head. The first section starts in the flask to retain as much heat in the column as possible. This entire column and entry into flask is isolated from the outside air and the flange fittings. The first chamber is a rough fractionation chamber with a lower rejection section that prevents any condensate from moving upwards. The center section is a secondary refinement section and will further refine the vapors. The upper third section is our patented fraction collector. The first dual stage fractionation column to ever be invented or used in distillation glassware, pilot or small scale. The Summit research SPD-7 is a horizontal head designed to fully refine products at a low temperature; preferred material required should be refined previously, or physically refined through all filtration and washing/chroma processes prior to running through this system. Material must be completely dried and full vacuum cannot be engaged if material is wet. Do not attempt to load green/black crude material. This system requires much more vacuum requirement so please keep in mind the 22 liter system takes a diffusion, and the 5 liter system can use dual e2m28/30. With a high flow triple condenser coil to GL18 adapters, the temps are dialed in throughout this horizontal head. Big bore 55/50 inlet and outlet with a traditional 29/42 discharge to flask. The Fraction Finder Sensor #34 consists of an optical light pulse and detector, acting as “the eyes” of the system. It wraps around a distillation set up condenser tube and connects to the Fraction Finder display to track important data on the distillation. These sensors are black for a reason:- Black absorbs all light while blocking out ambient light.
- This leads to better signaling and the most valid data possible transmitting to the Fraction Finder display.
- For example, a white sensor wouldn’t work because it would reflect the light into your glassware and into the sensor, harming the reading.
- This reduces any degradation from solvents, crude oils, extracts, etc..
- This protects the sensor and ensures that it lives to see an endless amount of runs.
- The black coating we use on each sensor is a high temperature, thermal resistant coating, it can withstand temperatures well above anything you’d see in a distillation lab.
- It’s nearly impossible to set one of our sensors on fire, the coating is almost completely fireproof!
- This protects the user, the equipment, and (in worst case scenarios) the entire lab.

Boiling Flask 50L-3N-71 is made from high quality Schott glass and is the original Rundkolben (triple offset joints) design. The dimensions and geometry of the joints are original concepts brought to market by Summit Research. This limited edition boiling flask (along with short path distillation head) is 'made to order' and carries longer lead times than most units. Please call us if you need an exact time frame. Joints are standard taper 24/40 (2) and 71/60 main. 50 Liter round bottom boiling flask. As always, Summit uses 100% best quality glass blanks that are THICKER and built BEYOND STANDARDS made right here in the USA. Our glassware is made specifically for efficiency and durability. HB series heads are inspired by our patented fraction collector technology paired with a larger flanged bore. Short Path Distillation Head HB1 150 comes equipped with 34/45 discharge port and a 150mm bore that secures to a boiling flask with o-ring and clamp. The Short Path Distillation Head HB1 150, or previously MPD (modified path distillation), was created for one of our testers Breaking Dabs aka Heisenberg. With his unique skills he has helped us tune the HB series heads to evolve and provide solutions for our users. HB1 is designed to be ultra selective to evacuate all previous fractions before the main body without letting the main body through. With some temp, main body can come out extremely fast and this head can be used as a first pass head. It is very effective in removing heads fractions while retaining main body components. Vigs are not needed for this technology due to the industry first "no-vig" approach which utilizes a baffled section that extends down below the head base and into the boiling flask. Please contact us for a completely tuned system with this hardware! Requirement to use these heads would be a sogevac + dual e2m30 -OR- sogevac + e80 -OR- sogevac + e80 + diffusion array. This particular setup benefits from a custom diffusion array and an Apollo Vacuum Controller with the inert gas sweeping feature. Effectively increasing the stock speed and lowering the temperatures further.
