Reflux condensers are used in “conversion” processes to cool the vapor molecules emitted from heated oils to change their gaseous state back into liquid by means of a chilled triple coil. This unit is recommended for 22L and larger boiling flasks. How it works: The condenser is attached to the boiling flask joint and is secured in a vertical position. Chiller fluid is circulated through the coil to cause the vapors to condense as they rise up through the condenser coils thus preventing them from escaping. This gives you the option to reflux different fluids in your boiling flask for extended periods of time before you run the SPD, this is a must have in the lab for conversions. First of its kind, innovation and performance meet the future of distillation. The Ultra Short Path Distillation Micro Head (previously SPD-7.1) is a fascinating technology inspired by an ultra low temperature process. The Summit research SPD-7.1 is a horizontal head designed to fully refine products at a low temperature; preferred material required should be refined previously, or physically refined through all filtration and washing/chroma processes prior to running through this system. Material must be completely dried and full vacuum cannot be engaged if material is wet. Do not attempt to load green/black crude material. This system requires much more vacuum requirement so please keep in mind the 22 liter system takes a diffusion, and the 5 liter system can use dual e2m28/30. With a high flow dual condenser coil to GL18 adapters, the temps are dialed in throughout this horizontal head. Big bore 45/50 inlet and outlet with a traditional 29/42 discharge to flask. With these types of heads, if you dip the coil temp down it will act as a violent collection of molecules dragged to the coil like a magnet. That coil would inherently distribute those lower temps right on the surface of the fraction collector dish and that would display a whole new set of efficiency within the head. The condenser in this 55/50 head absorbs as much heat as possible and removes BTU energy from the vapor prior to entering the condenser arm. This allows the vacuum jacketed head to operate like it’s supposed to. The coil in the head doesn’t disturb molecular flow dynamics as it’s duty is to absorb heat before the heat affects the sides of the walls of the fraction collector as well as allows those ambient vacuum void temps to be more stable. When you get blow by in a head it means it’s just working overtime because the arm sends back fluids to the heater chiller and it can’t maintain the BTU heat removal. So if you can maintain exact temps you can bounce unwanted fractions right out of the condenser arm without over shooting flow rates. This maintains a drier vacuum in the condenser arm.

When you get blow by in a head it means it’s just working overtime because the arm sends back fluids to the heater chiller and it can’t maintain the BTU heat removal. So if you can maintain exact temps you can bounce unwanted fractions right out of the condenser arm without over shooting flow rates. This maintains a drier vacuum in the condenser arm.
