The Rodaviss kit (High Temp PTFE) is a female threaded screw cap designed to thread with the externally threaded socket of a 45/50 joint. The 45mm joint threads with the Rodaviss for added reinforcement allowing for a vacuum-tight, grease-less seal that is easily separated, eliminating the risk of stuck joints. What does a Rodaviss joint do?
A conventional ground-glass joint typically relies on the tapered glass surfaces fitting together, sometimes with grease and/or a clamp. A Rodaviss joint adds an external threaded section, cap, and Viton O-ring that mechanically pulls the two glass pieces together.
This gives you:
Grease-free sealing that is particularly useful for vacuum work.
Leak-tight connections that have no need for joint clamps.
Reduced risk of the joint sticking or “freezing” together, which can happen with conventional greased ground joints.
A more secure connection for applications such as cold traps, vacuum lines, chromatography columns, reactors, and other process glassware.
