The new SPD-8 Series Heads (FC55, 60mm, 100mm, 150mm) bring a fraction collecting core combined with condenser coil. If you want absolute temperature control in a head, look no further. With these types of heads, if you dip the coil temp down it will act as a violent collection of molecules dragged to the coil like a magnet. That coil would inherently distribute those lower temps right on the surface of the fraction collector dish and that would display a whole new set of efficiency within the head. All Short Path Distillation 8 Heads have a 45/50 thermoport and a 34/45 discharge arm. This 2 liter head comes with boiling flask! Can be upgraded to 5 liter flask, please call us. Short Path Distillation 8 Head in use at the lab: Instagram Demo instagram logo The condenser in this 60mm head absorbs as much heat as possible and removes BTU energy from the vapor prior to entering the condenser arm. This allows the vacuum jacketed head to operate like it’s supposed to. The coil in the head doesn’t disturb molecular flow dynamics as it’s duty is to absorb heat before the heat affects the sides of the walls of the fraction collector as well as allows those ambient vacuum void temps to be more stable. When you get blow by in a head it means it’s just working overtime because the arm sends back fluids to the heater chiller and it can’t maintain the BTU heat removal. So if you can maintain exact temps you can bounce unwanted fractions right out of the condenser arm without over shooting flow rates. This maintains a drier vacuum in the condenser arm. • The Extraction Finder is a real-time molecular monitoring system for botanical extraction, which is essential for consistently maximizing the amount of extracted compounds within a given plant material. This robust model will serve hydrocarbon and ethanol extractions. Not rated for use with C02 extractions. The robust housing, which fully encloses the molecular sensor, can be easily installed in-line in the extraction design on sanitary flange end clamps. A 30′ sensor cable feeds this information to a high-quality touch-screen, which displays real-time levels of Cannabinoids, Chlorophyll and Lipids. The Extraction Finder’s digital readout can be used to help operators learn about and dial-in their process, such as optimizing flow rate, solvent amount, filter efficiency, and general quality assurance and control. In the long run, this system will be your best friend in dialing-in the most effective standard operating procedures (SOPs). Extraction Sensor
    • Housed and enclosed by the Extraction Sensor Housing
    • Connects and transmits to the digital display via 30′ sensor cable

Lack of objectivity during the extraction process

The purpose of botanical extraction processes, regardless of solvent used, is essentially to introduce a solvent to the biomass that will bind to, strip, and help obtain as much of the desirable compounds as possible. However, extraction operators have no solid metric to base their success on, aside from color in sight glasses or laboratory testing. While observing color can be done in-line, it is a subjective metric at best. While lab results are an objective metric, it is nearly impossible to correlate in practice and can take days or even weeks to obtain after a run. While both of these are helpful techniques that should be utilized during the process, they should not be solely relied upon since they lack real-time objectivity. Subjective monitoring that is based on perception or guesswork is imprecise, inconsistent, and difficult to scale. What is the effect of this lack of molecular monitoring during extraction? Batches that are sub-optimally extracted, resulting in either low yields or potency, and even wasted solvents and time. Examples of Applications The most popular applications of the Extraction Finder are hydrocarbon and ethanol extraction. The system can be installed in-line on extractors where there are 1.5” or 2” sanitary flange connections. Multiple units can be placed at multiple points of the extraction design. Hydrocarbon extraction: The unit can be installed in-line between the material column and collection column. Pre-filtration or CRC, the unit’s live data can help you determine what flow rate optimizes both solvated mass & time. Post-filtration or CRC, it can confirm that Chlorophyll is not making it past the filter. Ethanol extraction: The unit can be installed in-line at the recirculation area. It can be used to determine solvent saturation by seeing when the solvent has absorbed the majority of Cannabinoids. The unit is so sensitive that it can even be helpful for confirmation of removal of molecules during a cleaning run.

  • The Short Path Distillation Head Bertha 150, since development in 2018, has become one of the leading standards in distillation head types in the industry. 2023 has brought the Bertha 100 to its final perfect form with 6 generations of evolution. This head comes equipped with 45/50 thermoport, 34/45 discharge port and a 100mm bore that secures to a boiling flask with o-ring and clamp. The Short Path Distillation Head Bertha 150 (previously SPD-4 MPD Big Bertha) is an extremely high vapor fractionation column head. The first section starts in the flask to retain as much heat in the column as possible. This entire column and entry into flask is isolated from the outside air and the flange fittings. The first chamber is a rough fractionation chamber with a lower rejection section that prevents any condensate from moving upwards. The center section is a secondary refinement section and will further refine the vapors. The upper third section is our patented fraction collector. The first dual stage fractionation column to ever be invented or used in distillation glassware, pilot or small scale. Can achieve 4-6 liters per hour (8 liters per hour with upgraded chilling and vacuum accessories) first pass and ready for crystallization. Vigs are not needed for this technology due to the industry first "no-vig" approach which utilizes a baffled section that extends down below the head base and into the boiling flask. Requirement to use these heads would be a sogevac + dual e2m30 -or- sogevac + e80 -or-  sogevac + e80 + diffusion array. This particular setup benefits from a custom diffusion array and an Apollo Vacuum Controller with the inert gas sweeping feature. Effectively increasing the stock speed and lowering the temperatures further. Included: Our MPD heads fit exclusively to Summit MPD boiling flasks: As always, Summit uses 100% best quality glass blanks that are THICKER and built BEYOND STANDARDS made right here in the USA. Our glassware is made specifically for efficiency and durability. Summit provides the quality of lab equipment that you deserve.       Summit recommends all users of any and all glassware to operate inside a ventilated fume hood with sufficient blast shields to prevent injury in case of fatigued glass failure. Summit is not responsible or liable for the result of any failures from use, and/or loss of subsequent hardware contamination/failure with or without the result of material loss or damaged caused to surroundings. By purchasing our premiere lines of laboratory glassware the user is responsible to operate in the recommended environment safely. We recommend all users to operate in a legal and licensed facility where safety is the number 1 goal. Short Path Distillation Head Bertha 150

Simple yet powerful, the GVS40A uses displacement and horsepower to achieve CFM. Unlike many other types of pumps that require complex fore traps, cryotraps, etc. – a well maintained single stage rotary vane can withstand great amounts abuse; making them very affordable and usable without much worry. Also know as 'roughing', 'wet' or 'backing' pumps. The GVS40A rotary vane pump is required for any sized hard-piped system and can be very useful on hosed systems as well.

  • The new SPD-8 Series Heads (FC55, 100mm, 150mm) bring a fraction collecting core combined with condenser coil. Short Path Distillation 8 Head in use at the lab: Instagram Demo instagram logo The condenser in this 150mm head absorbs as much heat as possible and removes BTU energy from the vapor prior to entering the condenser arm. • Mechanical valve for the use with Apollo Vacuum Controller or SVG-3 This KF25 elbow valve works by throttling the pressure between the vacuum pump and the process to control the vacuum level or to isolate the vacuum pump | Enables vacuum pressure control using a solenoid valve for throttling pump suction
    • Control range: 10 millitorr to 6 Torr
    • Measurement range: 1 millitorr to 760 Torr
    • Range with accuracy: 10 millitorr to 6 Torr
    • Benefits of throttle control:  With the KF25 1″ orifice you get better and faster throughput | ideal for processing high volumes | Extends life of pump by enabling pump to run closer to it’s base pressure
    • Vacuum control—Regulate the vacuum level between the vacuum pump and the chamber or process. It creates a pressure drop between the two, thereby allowing the process to operate at a set pressure while the pumps’ pressure varies based on loading. Helps prolong the life of your vacuum pump!
    • Vacuum controller applications: Vacuum Ovens,  Vacuum Furnaces, Vacuum Bagging or Composites
    • Botanical processing: Rotary Evaporation, Short Path Distillation (1 Head Kit), Extractions
    • Use case example— To maintain specific pressure levels in a vacuum oven at about 2 Torr to avoid removing target terpenes and only removing water
